DePaul University

DePaul University

DePaul University values teaching and learning over anything. While this might seem like an obvious statement, DePaul is the largest private university in which the faculty members hold teaching as a priority. DePaul is also the nation's largest Catholic university. This means that they are committed to providing an educational experience that brings together people, minds, places, and hearts. The university offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate programs, so it is likely that any student can find what they are looking for in a program. A number of professors work within Chicago as consultants, entrepreneurs, and researchers and will incorporate their own experiences into their classrooms. Having two campuses in Chicago, one is located in Lincoln Park and the other is in the business district. Chicago makes the ideal classroom, as there are thousands of internship opportunities, over 100,000 alumni within the metro area, and the possibility to make connections that will impact an educational and professional career.

Students will be able to form real relationships with their professors, as about 98% of classes are taught by members of the faculty and not teaching assistants. On average, there is less than 40 students per class, allowing professors to get to know their students names, goals, and concerns. Diversity is highly valued, and varying viewpoints are intentionally incorporated into academics, as well as the student's life. This allows the learning experience to not only reflect the real world, but it prepares students for it. There are students from all 50 states, and about 87 different countries gracing the campuses.
