The University of Wisconsin as a whole is one of the largest systems in the higher education institution in the United States, as it serves about 180,000 students every year, and employs more than 39,000 staff across the globe. The University of Wisconsin System is made up of 13 4 year universities, 13 freshman/sophomore college campuses, and UW extensions all over the state. When considered altogether, these institutions are a huge economic, educational, and cultural resource for not only Wisconsin, but for the United States and the World as well. The mission of UW is to develop resources for humans, discover and distribute knowledge, to spread knowledge and application beyond the boundaries of campus, and to stimulate and serve society by developing students that are in the position to learn.

The UW administration works to develop specific plans and to analyze advances in teaching and learning regarding new technologies and demographic trends. They admin also acquires and manages many resources that are needed to advance the public higher education within Wisconsin. It also ensures the best use of all resources to build trust with students, donors, taxpayers, and others who fund the institution. UW also facilitates many effective partnerships with various public and private educational systems, businesses, and students in order to create a shared solution for all emerging challenges. The system also interprets and applies laws, business practices, and regulations that govern the system in order to provide consistent guidance and oversight for all of the institutions.

Data Science Degree

The Data Science Degree program at the University of Wisconsin is now almost a requirement to obtain an advanced position at a top company. This program is a great choice for busy adults who are looking to advance their career or even start a new one, but do not have the time to take courses on campus. The program is made up of 36 credits, broken down into 12 courses. It will teach students how to use the power of big data by employing the latest and greatest tools and analytical methods. Distinguished and diverse faculty teach courses to students that are in Wisconsin but also out of state. The program is taught entirely online, allowing students to study and do their homework whenever they have access to a computer with an internet connection. The courses have no meeting times set, so there is no need for students to go to campus. The virtual lab allows students to remotely access the software tools and programming language needed for class from their own computer. Additionally, they will have full access to faculty by phone and email as well as all on campus resources like libraries and career assistance.

In order to be considered for this program, students must have completed a Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better, and prerequisite courses in computer programming, elementary statistics, and database administration. Many candidates will have backgrounds in statistics, analytics, math, marketing, or computer science or even 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a related field.
