Master of Science in Professional and Technical Communications

The Master of Science in Professional and Technical Communications at the New Jersey Institute of Technology has been designed to meet the new challenges regarding technology and scientific innovations, aesthetic design and social media, global impact, and cross cultural environments. This is an innovative program of graduate study that may be completed totally online so that working professionals can give it their attention at any time, at their own pace. Students will be prepared for a range of professions involving technology and communication like: information design, technical communication, user centered design, instructional design, editing, medical communication, and even social media management. Students will acquire an understanding of information technologies that will enable them to approach any communication issues with innovative problem-solving skills. Students must complete no fewer than 30 credit hours over 2 or more semesters. 5 core courses are accompanied by 5 elective courses, allowing students to select their specialized area of professional and technical communication. Students will also be expected to design and maintain a portfolio of their work completed within their courses, to be presented during their capstone seminar.
