Sharepoint Online Crawler for Visual Site Mapping

Microsoft SharePoint has been a backbone of digital collaboration since its debut in 2001, and SharePoint Online (introduced in 2013) is now the default intranet platform for most large organizations. Microsoft has reported more than 200 million monthly active users on SharePoint, with adoption strongest among large enterprises — the majority of Fortune 500 organizations rely on it for intranet, internal communications, and document collaboration. Scale at that level brings its own problem: SharePoint sites grow fast, structure drifts, and finding what’s where becomes increasingly hard.
SharePoint Online is excellent at fostering collaboration but isn’t built to help administrators see the shape of what their users have created. Pages multiply, document libraries balloon, ownership gets lost, and discoverability suffers. DYNO Mapper’s SharePoint Online crawler connects directly to your tenant and surfaces what’s actually there, in four ways:
- Visual Site Mapping — A visual sitemap is a hierarchical diagram of your SharePoint’s structure: which pages exist, how they’re connected, where the orphans live, and how deep the tree runs. Designers, information architects, and admins use visual sitemaps during redesigns, migrations, governance reviews, and ongoing maintenance — a diagram you can share with stakeholders beats a flat URL list every time.
- Content Inventory & Audit — A content inventory catalogs every page, document, and asset linked from SharePoint with titles, descriptions, owners, last-modified dates, and other metadata in one place. From there, a content audit lets you spot gaps, duplicates, stale content, and pages with no clear owner — the work that has to happen before any meaningful cleanup or migration.
- Accessibility Testing — An accessible intranet ensures every employee can use what should be the most-used resource at the company. The DOJ’s April 2024 Title II final rule made WCAG 2.1 Level AA the explicit accessibility standard for state and local government services, with deadlines of April 26, 2027 (jurisdictions of 50,000+) and April 26, 2028 (smaller jurisdictions) per the April 2026 IFR; the European Accessibility Act entered enforcement on June 28, 2025. Whether your obligation comes from public-sector regulation, Section 504, or simply usability for staff with disabilities, scanning your SharePoint pages against WCAG is now table stakes.
- PDF Document Accessibility — SharePoint document libraries are full of PDFs, and most of them weren’t produced with accessibility in mind. Accessibility testing for PDFs against WCAG 2.2 AA and PDF/UA-1 identifies missing tags, untagged tables, missing alt text, and reading-order issues so you can prioritize remediation across the documents that matter most.
Integrating your SharePoint Online tenant with DYNO Mapper is straightforward and typically takes 24-48 hours after signup. Every subscription includes support, so admins and governance leads can get help interpreting results and prioritizing fixes. The output — current visual sitemap, structured content inventory, and accessibility findings against modern WCAG and PDF/UA standards — gives you the visibility SharePoint at enterprise scale actually requires.
