Modern Link-Building That Actually Works
The flip side of avoiding bad links is building good ones. In 2026, the link-building approaches that survive algorithm updates and stay out of SpamBrain’s crosshairs:
- Create genuinely useful content that people link to on their own initiative. Original research, detailed guides, tools, and calculators earn editorial links without any outreach.
- Digital PR. Pitch original data, expert commentary, or unique angles to journalists and industry publications. The resulting coverage often includes high-value editorial links.
- Relationship-based guest posting on sites that genuinely fit your topic and audience, not on guest-post networks. One thoughtful post on an authoritative industry publication beats twenty guest posts on generic “contribute” sites.
- Broken-link building. Find broken outbound links on relevant sites, offer your own content as a replacement. Genuine win-win; no manipulation.
- Internal linking. Underrated. Links from your own high-authority pages to your content you want to rank distribute link equity exactly where you want it, at no cost and no spam risk.
